No gear, just a good idea

I can’t stand the phrase “all the gear, no idea”. It sounds too much like gatekeeping, and is usually uttered by snobs who’ve ‘forged a career’ through ‘the University of life’ – and pay no heed to survivorship bias.

Anyway, I’m ranting. I was in London and out for a dawn run with my better half. The light was good and became increasingly gorgeous. Alas, all I had on me was a battered and bruised old smartphone. I wanted to see what sort of work I could create in the moment, channeling yet another trite quote: “the best camera is the one on your person”.

I’m chuffed with the results…
