It was a running joke during my (hideously technical, ever-so-3D) PhD that I could probably submit my thesis as a scrapbook of visuals. After all, “pictures speak a thousand words” and the thesis had to be about 50,000 words long.
I took the jest to heart, though, and started to develop a real love for illustration and data visualisation.
For example…
– beautiful, multi-colour renders of ancient oak trees which I’d 3D scanned and had to represent on a 2D sheet of paper
– minimalist, intuitive graphs and charts
– schematics simplifying the complex process of surveying and 3D laser scanning.
I’d love to try to illustrate and visualise whatever gadget, widget or phenomenon you need to convey to an audience!
